Barb Sutton, Jonathan Cone, Sue Leroux, Darin Schierbeck, Laudalina Nystrom, and Mike Sutton provide a broad background of experience in numerous different industries and are available for one-on-one business consulting services.
The members of our office staff are continually involved in professional development courses so that they can stay current on the myriad changes in the Income Tax, Goods and Service Tax, Employment Insurance, Employment Standards, and other governmental acts and regulations. We are also continually upgrading and changing our computer equipment to provide the highest level of service to our clients through innovative and cost effective methods.

Barb Sutton, CPA, CGA

Barb received her CGA designation in 1978. She has worked in public practice her entire accounting career with stops in Penticton and Nanaimo before joining the Kemp Harvey Group in Kelowna in 1984.

Darin Schierbeck, CPA, CGA
Partner
Darin has been working in public practice since 2002 and after earning his Business Administration Degree (BBA) from Okanagan University College in 2003 he joined the Kemp Harvey Group. He earned his CGA designation in 2007 and became a partner of Kemp Harvey Group Inc. in 2012. Darin provides clients with a wide range of accounting and tax services and is fully dedicated to providing superior client service. Having been born and raised in Kelowna, Darin enjoys all the Okanagan has to offer including being an avid golfer and spending time with his wife and three children.

Sue Leroux, CPA, CGA

Sue has been working in public practice since 1999 when she joined the Kemp Harvey Group. She earned her CGA designation in 2003 and became a partner of Kemp Harvey Group Inc. in 2012. Sue offers clients a wide variety of accounting and tax services. She also volunteers as treasurer for a local sports organization. Outside of work, Sue enjoys many activities including squash, pickle ball, and spending time with her husband and son.

Jonathan Cone, CPA, CGA

Jonathan joined Kemp Harvey Hunt Ward Inc. in 2003, achieved his CGA designation in 2006, and became a partner with the firm in 2012. He provides clients with a wide range of accounting services including personal and corporate taxation, trust filings, tax & estate planning, and small business accounting. When he isn’t working in the office, Jonathan enjoys camping and spending time with his wife Rachel and two daughters – Kaitlyn and Ashleigh. He also volunteers as treasurer on his church board and enjoys golfing whenever he gets the chance.

Laudalina (Leah) has been working in public practice since 1994 and she joined the Kemp Harvey Group in 2002. She earned her CGA designation in 2005 and became a partner of Kemp Harvey Group Inc. in 2012. Leah offers clients a wide variety of accounting and tax services with one of her specialties being Estate and Trust planning/taxation. Leah resides in Vernon and enjoys spending time with her family – especially her three grandchildren.

Since joining KH Kelowna in July 2009, Barbie Skywalker has become a cornerstone of the team through her dedication, warmth, and depth of expertise. As Bookkeeping Manager, she leads with precision and care, supporting clients with everything from day-to-day accounting needs to strategic guidance. She also wears the hats of Sales and Client Manager and Accounting Technician, seamlessly balancing relationship-building with technical know-how.
Barbie thrives on connection—whether that’s working closely with clients, enjoying a good meal with her large extended family, or spending time outdoors with her daughter Freddie, boyfriend Drew and their dog Wanda. She’s a self-professed movie lover and always happy to trade film recommendations. If you detect a touch of the Force in her calm leadership style and uncanny organizational skills, you might not be wrong.

Amber Derkatch

Amber Derkatch has been a vital part of KH Kelowna since 2015, keeping the wheels turning with grace, grit, and a great sense of humour. As Administration Coordinator, she’s often the first friendly face you see—and the steady hand ensuring everything runs smoothly behind the scenes.
When she’s not managing the front lines of the office, Amber is fully immersed in family life. You’ll likely find her cheering from the sidelines at the rink with her son Kayden or carving up the slopes of Big White with her daughter Kyra. She also finds joy in quieter moments—reading a good book or soaking up the sun on her paddleboard. With a dry wit and calm composure that would make even Moira Rose proud, Amber brings both efficiency and a little sparkle to everything she does.

Laura Nyberg
Bookkeeper | Bringer of Good Vibes
Since joining KH Kelowna in early 2022, Laura Nyberg has brought not only her bookkeeping expertise but also a natural ability to lift the room. Known for her quick wit and easygoing energy, she keeps things running smoothly while making the day just a little more fun for everyone around her.
Laura supports a wide variety of small and medium-sized businesses, working with both incorporated companies and sole proprietors. Her adaptability and attention to detail make her a trusted go-to across industries.
Off the clock, Laura is all about good food, good wine, and great company. She thrives on hosting dinner parties and adventuring through the Okanagan with her husband and three kids—whether it’s a cozy cabin, a quirky Airbnb, or a tent under the stars. Her happy place usually includes a lakeside view, a chilled glass of rosé, and at least one hilarious story. Laura’s the kind of person who can make spreadsheets sparkle and Mondays feel like Fridays.

Nicole Heiss
Senior Manager
Nicole Heiss has been a valued member of the KH Kelowna Chartered Professional Accountants team since 2012 and earned her CPA designation in 2017. With over a decade of experience in public practice, Nicole plays a key role in the firm’s review engagements, offering clients a steady, detail-oriented approach shaped by both professional discipline and intellectual curiosity.
Holding a Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology, Nicole brings a unique blend of analytical skill and human insight to her accounting work. She’s known among colleagues for her reliability, thoughtful perspective, and quiet consistency—qualities that make her a cornerstone of the KH Kelowna team.
Outside the office, Nicole enjoys life with her husband and their two young children. Whether she’s immersed in a video game, navigating a Dungeons & Dragons campaign, or exploring the outdoors through camping and swimming, she thrives in both structured strategy and open-ended adventure. It’s that same blend of focus and imagination that defines her approach to both work and play.

Trevor Bowland
Staff Accountant
Trevor Bowland holds a diploma in Business Administration and has been part of the KH Kelowna team since 2020. Currently pursuing his Bachelor’s degree part-time, he combines real-world experience with a strong commitment to continuous learning.
As a staff accountant, Trevor handles corporate year ends, personal taxes, and bookkeeping with care and precision. Friendly, multilingual, and known for his easygoing nature, he brings positive energy to the office, helping clients and coworkers alike feel at ease. While he takes his work seriously, he’s always ready for a light moment—often sharing a subtle Lord of the Rings reference, because every good journey deserves a little magic (and maybe second breakfast).

Milos Randelovic
Staff Accountant
Milos brings two years of experience supporting clients with day-to-day accounting needs. He is currently pursuing his CPA designation and brings a strong attention to detail and a commitment to continuous learning.
Before transitioning into accounting, Milos gained valuable experience in sales and management roles, which helped shape his client-first approach and strong communication skills.
Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his family and staying active through gym workouts, running, and biking.

Rachel Cone
Client Services Coordinator
Rachel joined KH Kelowna in 2021 as part of our administration team. When not at the office she currently spends her time volunteering with Girl Guides of Canada as a Ranger Unit Guider along with camping and travelling with her Husband, 2 teenage daughters and their loveable dog, Levi. Additionally, if you need Girl Guide Cookies, she is the one to ask!
